Stand Tall Leadership Development for Afterschool:
Definition of Stand Tall: the act of stepping with courage and confidence into your full place in the world.
In Stand Tall Sessions, Site coordinators, regional directors, program directors, leadership teams and those working in afterschool programs build leadership skills and confidence by practicing, modeling and working together to become more powerful and successful leaders.
Stand Tall Leadership Training and Coaching builds the skills of leaders to be role models, managers, coaches and change agents. Sessions are dynamic, highly interactive and transformative. Our focus is to provide opportunities to practice skills – starting at a basic level and layering complexity as the sessions continue. All practice is followed by immediate and specific feedback from both peers and the trainer. Sessions end with a specific action plan for implementation of skills and knowledge into daily practice.
Stand Tall Leadership offers a range of sessions to build staff ability to influence, manage, motivate – and ultimately, lead others. Drawing from the following topics, sessions build the skills emerging and developing leaders need to:
• Communicate with courage and confidence
• Model integrity and self-awareness
• Build a positive team culture
• Hold others accountable
• Promote self-directed development in others
• Build specific skills in others
• Manage organizational change
• Make efficient and timely decisions.
If we want our children and youth to become positive role models and leaders in our programs, our first step is to support the adults working in afterschool to embrace their role as leaders and work as pro-active teams.
